"Phosphorescent light"

Shiranui (JAP 知らぬいい lit. "Phosphorescent light") is a liquid giant residing in the outermost are of the solar system where Gaia is located. It is a gas planet with an outer layer made entirely of high temperature gold material (Au).

Appearance

Shiranui glows brightly like the sun, appearing from the surface of Gaia as a brightly glowing star, but one that does not "twinkle". It's puffy, metallic outer layer is made of hot, glowing gold with an inner layer of hydrogen. The material of which the core is made of is currently unknown, but it's believed by Gaian humans to be made of nickel and silicate.

Stereotypical to a gas planet, Shiranui's Roche limit has a disk of terrestrial rings around it, made of gas, asteroids, and metal.

Trivia

  • Shiranui gets its name from the term "Shiranui" which in Japanese is described as the events of a sunset or a flame-like entity known as Will-o-the-Wisps.
  • Both Shiranui the planet and Amaterasu the star are named after different Japanese legends, Amaterasu being a solar goddess in the Shinto religion.
    • Amaterasu and Shiranui are also the names of both incarnations of the protagonist of the popular Japanese adventure game, Ōkami.
